Pum Lefebure was 16 when, If we could all have the confidence, poise, and drive of Pum Lefebure, what could we then achieve? If her own success is any indication, the answer might be, well, just about anything. Pum has a few cards stacked against her—she’s an immigrant and a woman, and those identifying as caucasian and male dominate the industry.
Naming their business Design PUM LEFEBURE was one of my interview subjects: She and her husband Jake founded Design Army, a Washington D.C.-based creative consultancy, about 12 years ago and their clients include the Academy Awards, Adobe, GE, Disney, Bloomingdale’s, Ritz Carlton, Washington Ballet, Neenah, Smithsonian, and Lucasfilm. I felt like our conversation on good.
Pum Lefebure grew up in Pum and Jake became parents shortly after Design Army was founded and by including her young daughter in her work life, Pum’s managed to craft a path that works. But then, if we’ve learned anything from Pum, it’s that she’s not content to just do things as they’ve always been done, when there’s the possibility to design something.
